Learning To Travel To North-Eastern Sri Lanka

It is fun to learn t countries before you travel there. When traveling to North-East Sri Lanka it is important to learn about the religion, the food and the plants.
Most people in North-East Sri Lanka are practicing Buddhist. Many of the people of this area are Tamis, and an important part of the religion for many people is the production of art. The temples have many examples of this beautiful art, many with humanistic themes. The people also create beautiful statues often representing a part of their religion.
The typical meal in this region always contains rice served on a banana leaf. The food may contain meat or may be vegetarian. The food will be very similar to Indian cuisine. After a meal, betel leaves and nuts are chewed at a lesiurely pace as the participants visit with each other.
North-East Sri Lanka is drier than other parts of Sri Lanka. The temperatures are warm. This part of Sri Lanka is known for its satinwood, ebony, ironwood, mahogany and teak trees. The area has many beautiful beaches and is great for snorkeling. Wild elephants can be seen in some locations.
